Born in the French Alps.

Worn around the world.

Who we are.

We're a team of snowboard instructors who have spent our lives living and working in the mountains. Across winters and summers, descents, and days that stretched from first lift to last light, we've worn a wide range of eyewear brands over the years and got to know exactly what works. And what doesn't.

Our story

It started in winter 2015 in our home resort of Méribel, in the French Alps. A small batch of our first model — the Cruiser, and a group of friends and local seasonaires willing to try something new. Demand soon outran supply, so we made more. The online store followed, and so did orders from further afield than we'd ever expected. A decade on, the Cab9 family has kept growing, and the range has grown with it. But the brief hasn't changed: eyewear made by people who actually use it, tested where conditions are hardest, built to perform wherever you take it.

Our aim

We were frustrated.
Big name sunglasses brands often looked the part and worked well enough for everyday wear. But on long days in demanding conditions, they didn't meet our high standards — ok in bright sun but disappointing when light turned flat, eye fatigue after a long day on the slopes, pressure points from frames after hours on the face, or frames that simply broke under the kind of use we put them through. So in 2015, we stopped complaining and started building. The brief was simple: sunglasses that could genuinely keep up. Reliability in all conditions, without the price tag that usually comes with it.

Designed and tested in the Alps.

Every Cab9 lens is designed in the mountains and tested where conditions are toughest — high altitude, intense glare off snow, flat light, temperature swings. The Alps aren't a backdrop for the brand. They're the testing ground. If it holds up here, it holds up everywhere.
